+Raw Birthday Cakes+

+AppleFlaxers+

I made these by accident the first time after using flax for latkes. I was making raw apple sauce & kreme than had flax+apple left over.I popped the mixture in the dehydrator & liked it.

1 green apple
3 small sprigs of tyhme
2 cups flax
3 cups good earth original tea
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tbsp curry powder
3 ground cardamom pods
1 tbsp chia seeds

-in a food processor first blend apple with tythme until blended/chunky, set aside in a small bowl. Soak flax in tea and let soak for three hours in fridge until gloopy- add rest of ingrediants, apples etc & mix well. Spread out on dehydrator trays evenly & dehydrate on 115 for 12 hours. After four hours in dehydrator score crackers into squares.

+Lemon Llamas+

(sidenote) Maybe someone out there remembers these big lemon cookies from my childhood? They could have been available at a grocery store. They looked like flat shiny yellow iced flowers & were bigger than my hand (wich when I was a kid & even now are not that big) Another thing about these cookies that I remember is that My mom froze them for us. They were like big yellow cold sweet lemony dough cakes.

+little note felix+

Today I am cleaning the house & putting little containers of peppermint oiled obsidian in most used rooms for help in "uplifting the spirit & ease with the loss of loved ones" I like this idea, it smells nice--exactly like peppermint saltwater taffy--Never thought i'd be this intimidated by home ownership too--"oh $%^^! should a plant go there? what if a plant goes there & it stays there forever!?????" * weird.

I feel weird & emotional- like my brain is full of sentimental letters to good friends & pictures of baby seals. It is full of things that make me cry... its 2am. I'm crying at everything, google images, my shirt, chocolate & it's raining - Riding the moon wave is not an easy thing to do with grace. Being a woman is bizzare with powerful cyclical consequences & moments that strike you down into an emotional puddle of tears...weird

+HAT & WARM W/ creative writing no edit+

I can finally say that everypart of my body is warm-
I feel so warm for the first time since stepping outside this afternoon. I took steps to fight winter blues today, I started by drinking a pot of good earth tea. My mom used to make it for me while ill (so comforting.) I talked to my aunt sue, who says she will come to visit in the spring, this news lessened the homesickness. I also made colorful hats & ate warmed foods.
--My husband jokingly said that I looked like a hobo while outdoors tonight, all bundled up. I agree that I am usually not the epitome of well thought out fashion, but I wanted to wear a special jacket today.
I wore my grandfathers cowboy jacket with a wool blanket lining tonight. It has to be warmest denim jacket in the world! I feel special when I wear it too, like he is still around. I was telling chris today that Grandpa J wore my jacket through his cowboy days (riding horses through the desert in winter must not have been an easy task) he would bring watercolors on his long horse journeys while wearing my jacket. He would always have navajo jewelry, levis, a stetson hat & his big black glasses to pear with it too.
-- He wasn't a tall man, was about my size & was considered to be by my midwestern family a "colorful" guy, an eccentric man. They even go as far as to say he was"artsy" I hate that word! We all hated that word among the family who were artists. The word "artsy" implied to us that we weren't serious or had bad taste. He was Dean of Otis Art Institute in the 70's- NOT "ARTSY"
--My grandfather was of Brittish descent & moved to chicago with his family when he was a boy but couldn't stand the humidity. He had terible asthma as a child wich required a lot of funky medicinal inhalers. My mother told me a story about his little green pipe & bed rest on wheezy days, wich he loved because he could read Tarzan books-instead of going to school. He did well as a young adult & after graduating MFA of fine arts from chicago art institute he moved to Arizona, where he emediately fell in love with everything about it. There are pictures of him painting in the back of an old ford with nothing but the middle of nowhere, nothing but cactus & a couple of horses.
--He studied more in Arizona, did abstract geometrical plein air paintings & eventually met my Grandma Fran who was a beautiful ceramicist & glass worker but was most well known for her floral arangements using desert plants.
--I could often be acused of romantisizing their existance, but I am part of them. When I wear my grandpas jacket I feel peaceful knowing it makes me warm the same way it made him warm many years ago.
a picture of Grandpa Jim & my mom with the Senufo Rythym Pounder" My grandfather was also a collector of African art.

+The drill sargeants & flash video DRAW+

when I submit my work to a gallery or art event I feel like a giant bubble of drill sargeants are over my head telling me why my art is not good "concept not strong enough" "colors suck" etc & I haven't heard back from the gallery that I put my eggs in one basket for. 16th of Dec is the deadline for them to contact me. I guess i'm confident but not enough to smoosh those little jerk brain drill sargeants into smithereens...I may never make it. PS. I did this video in FLASH as a test, it is my first flash video ever. ENJOY
