-Documentation- -From September until December- Sickness of the leg-

On September 6th.
I broke my leg while going out on a morning longboard ride in my pajamas.
This is my favorite activity. Or it was.
A rock from someones drought resistant landscaping cought my wheel.
I didn't think it was bad until I stood up and screamed like I was out of my body.
My bones snapped in a split second.
My neighbor ran out of his house with a pillow.
He had the same accident happen to him twice.
He was also trained in the Army to deal with freaked out people. I am still greatful for his positive attitude.
I've experienced birth without an epidural but from this pain almost passed out.
At the hospital I was given 2 morphine shots before the X-Ray. They both didn't work.
That was the begining of my journey through the sickness & on the road to now..
To complete recovery.
Because of insurance. One week after It broke it I was given surgery to screw my bones.
This is how I looked afterwards:

I received beautiful cards in the mail and had visits from friends & family to cheer me up.
Do you see that DEVO envelope from Michelle? wow!
I made a lot of artwork and videos during this time after surgery while bed ridden off the couch.
I am lucky to have my favorite people with my leg journey. We all slept on the couch together. Me, Chris & Ray. I felt protected.

During this time I learned I was not accepted into an art show I wanted to get in. I was devastated.
So I made more art in severe pain. And cried often at how much being this sick sucked. I drew comic memories about my life & about being sick.
During this time I also fell off my crutches and sprained my left arm.
I don't know what to put for a picture of that incedent. It was traumatic and happened in a crowded restaraunt....very embarrasing.

Little Ray started School and exploded with happiness each day.  This eased my Mama mind.
Slowly the Sickness from opium began to stop after weening off all the pain meds.
Ahhh that was a good day. And then the cast for 5 weeks:

The second season of Elevated leg bed reast began. With lots of documentaries about unusual people. And all the documentaries ever made about David Hockney.
A friend Micheal Flechner made my Opium stomach "blood Lizard" drawing into an amazing neon sign. Woah!
I looked at almost every family picture ever taken during this time too. In Between trying not to stick things in my cast to soothe the itch.
The cast came off and the boot went on
Boot walking started to happen.
Very Slowly.
I started to create ceramics. And draw even more while Ray was at school.

And now I'm walking again. Or half way walking. It feels weird. It's been a long ride. My next entry will be about learning to walk again in physical therapy. It's taken a lot of strength and a no fear attitude.I am proud of myself in a way for typing this now. I feel stronger.
